The Acai berry benefits are being noticed by doctors and dieticians as a valuable nutritional enhancement that helps with a range of health concerns.

The Acai berry comes from the Acai palm tree. The Acai palm tree grows anywhere between 6 to 24 meters tall with branches that contain 700 to 900 berries. These Acai palms develop in the Amazon Rainforest located in Brazil which has long been called the “lungs of the world,” and now the Acai berry benefits are bringing a new quality of life to those who consume it.

Acai Berry Benefits

The actual Acai berry is 90% seed and only 10% pulp, so it must be juiced in order to be consumed. The Acai juice is thick, dark in color and pleasantly sweet in taste. The Acai berry benefits include the high content of protein, antioxidants and vitamins that improve an array of health issues. The taste of this fresh, small, deep purple berry is said to be a cross between red wine and chocolate.

Acai Berry Uses

The Acai berry is a “superfruit” because it contains ten times the antioxidants in grapes and twice the antioxidants in pomegranates and blueberries. These antioxidants slow the aging process from the inside out. They are an excellent source of omega-3, omega-6 and omega-9 fatty acids needed for heart and mental health. Antioxidants also fight and prevent many diseases such as cancers, and omega fatty acids assist with the absorption of other vitamins. The Acai berry benefits have also been extended to improvement of night vision due to its high vitamin A content.

People who have incorporated Acai juice into their daily diet report more energy, less aches and pains and a stronger immune system. There have also been accounts of lowered blood pressure, lowered cholesterol and an increase in cognitive function.

Acai Berry Commercialized

Unfortunately, the only way to experience a fresh Acai berry is to taste it in the country Brazil right from the Acai palm. This delicate berry can not make the journey to America without spoiling, so it is only available in powder or freeze-dried form that is made into juice or supplements. It is also sold in blended drinks with other potent fruits such as the Noni fruit and pomegranates.

The Acai berry made its début and has become popular because of its weight loss claims. Acai juice and supplements are a wonderful addition to any weight loss plan, but there is no scientific proof that the Acai berry makes one lose weight. It is, however, very beneficial to those wanting to adopt a healthier lifestyle and promote longevity.

The downside to Acai juice is that it can cost as much as $45 per bottle. However expensive it may be, the Acai berry benefits and supports healthy living like no other fruit, and is worth the extra cost.
