Eliminate These Toxic Food Additives and Improve Your Health

If you want to have and maintain good health, you need to do more than exercise and take supplements. You must also exclude toxic food additives from your diet.

There is a documentary entitled Aspartame: Sweet Misery. The miseries are told by the victims of aspartame use. Aspartame is the main chemical in all the artificial sweeteners, and is used in virtually all diet sodas and some foods.

On his website, Dr. Mercola explains why it is the most dangerous food additive in our food. Ironically, it has been proven that aspartame actually contributes to obesity. Even worse, the excitotoxins it releases cause many serious health and neurological problems. Avoid artiifical sweeteners..

MSG or Monosodium Glutamate

This chemical was created in the early 20th century and caught on as a flavor enhancer and meat tenderizer. It's also used also to stimulate food cravings beyond normal to make you consume more. But you need to say “hold the MSG" when you eat at a Chinese restaurant! MSG rivals aspartame with its neurological damage from excitotoxins.

Hyperactivity, ADD, autism, obesity, and Alzheimer’s are a few of the consequences of MSG poisoning, along with aspartame. The problem is that MSG is camouflaged with labels such as artificial and natural "flavoring", autolyzed yeast, hydrolyzed portein, and sodium or calcium caseinate. Buyer beware!

Bad Fats

Avoid margerine or anything labeled with hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils, which are often used in baked goods. Really bad for the heart and blood vessels! Fast food places usually use lower grade oils for cooking and salads. Saturated, polyunsaturated, and monosaturated are confusing terms for different types of oils and fats.

The reality is that we do need what are termed essential fatty acids, especially Omega-3. There are oils rich in Omega-3 that should be used often, such as olive oil. Extra virgin olive oil is the best. Olive oil that's more green than yellow indicates higher quality.

High grade coconut oil, which is pricier, is now highly regarded by health food experts. It also maintains its essential fatty acid content at higher temperatures than the other oils.

City Water

Don’t believe the propaganda on fluoride. It is unhealthy and does not prevent tooth decay. Chlorine doesn’t do much for your health either. And what about all those traces of pharmaceutical drugs now being found in tap water?

Bottled water is usually a fraud, as most now know. It's better to purify water with a reverse osmosis system of your own. Or you can take your empty jugs to reverse osmosis machines in food stores or other commercial venues.

GMO’s

GMO, stands for genetically modified organisms, AKA Frankenfood! You can research this yourself and find pros and cons. Don’t trust the pros. There is growing evidence of health hazards from the genetic modifications.

GMO’s are often used to allow chemical interventions, which are also dangerous for consumption, to increase crop yields. If you can locate a documentary entitled ‘The World According to Monsanto” , you will receive a thorough education.

The most common GMO’s are found in corn and soy products. But Monsanto and others managed to keep congress from requiring products to be labeled as GMO. Hmmmm.

Avoid and Replace

You do need to be a label reader. Avoid products that have ingredients containing chemicals you can barely pronounce. Subscribe to free email alternative health newsletters to educate yourself. There are even inexpensive food items that are medicinal. Make a health food nut your friend!

Replace packaged food with organic or chemical free produce, fruits, and grains in bulk. Locally grown is best. Bulk grains and produce, especially beans, require some time and effort. But less attention on TV with more attention on what you eat will produce lasting health benefits.
