Genetically Modified Foods Endanger the Human Race

GMO stands for genetically modified organisms. The concern over GMO foods has more credence than most people realize. Vigilance is the key to surviving this menace.

Jeffrey Smith’s books, Seeds of Deception, and Genetic Roulette, offer the most comprehensive coverage on GMO foods for laymen. Dr. Mercola, internet health expert, considers GMOs in food as a major threat to the survival of the human race!

Yet, most mainstream media tends to minimize the controversy and ignore the scientific discoveries that reveal the hazards of GMOs. A French/German TV documentary, “The World According to Monsanto”, is a stellar exception. The HMO people propagandize their products with promises of greater crop yields to eliminate starvation. All they really want to do is control the seed industry and the food chain.

Monsanto, the group that brought you aspartame, and other GMO food producers, continue to force GMOs into the food chain despite warnings from independent researchers and resistance from enlightened activists. Approximately 75% of packaged and processed foods contain GM (genetically modified) ingredients!

Highlighting GM Food Hazards

A 1200 page European report, initially suppressed by GMO food producers, discovered the following conditions on lab rats that were fed Monsanto’s 863 type corn:

  • Kidney lesions
  • Cancer symptoms and poor blood pressure
  • Increased blood sugar
  • Kidney inflamation

Jeffrey Smith presented an account of medical problems that were traced back to GMO food consumption starting from 1989. Those problems included:

  • Memory loss
  • Uncontrollable muscle spasms and weakness
  • Hardened skin
  • Hair loss

He also discovered that during the period between 1994 and 2001 there was a dramatic influx of GM food products. During that same time, incidents of food related illnesses doubled!

How GMOs Threaten the Human Race

So what about the danger to the future of the human race? Reports from farmers have shown a direct connection to fertility problems among farm animals fed GM cotton seed and corn. Cows and pigs reproduction fell dramatically and the offspring were unable to reproduce.

Lab rats and mice showed genetic damage from GM soy. The offspring of those fed the GM soy had a 500% mortality rate increase as well as reproduction problems. So the hazard of HMOs goes beyond your health in your lifetime!

What Can You Do?

First, you need to learn how to avoid ingesting these GM food products. Commercially farmed non-organic corn, soy,and canola are obvious. They are the most common foods tampered with genetic modifications. But among packaged foods there are some hidden dangers from the ingredients used.

Corn oil, canoloa oil, soy oil, and cotton seed oil are used in several packaged food items as well as fast food in general. Also, there is the common occurrence of corn syrup as a sweetener. Most food producers will be more concerned about the bottom line than your health. Milk from cows given rbGH hormones is GMO. Avoid those food items.

Your best bet is to go organic as much as possible. Organic means no GMOs allowed, period. Fresh local produce is another option if you can be certain of the growing protocol used. Bulk grains and beans will keep you out of the GMO trap as well. There are non-GMO food lists available too.

Joining the Crusade

If you’re concerned about the future of the food chain and its impact on the human race, then begin to educate yourself with the materials mentioned at the beginning of this article. Another good documentary video is “The Future of Food”.

Then you could check the internet for various health food websites, newsletters and activist groups. Occasionally they offer petitions to the FDA, USDA, or Congress regarding health issues including GMOs. The GMO food producers are big, powerful, and connected. We need to avoid them individually and slow them down collectively.

Is the answer to the threat merely to avoid GMOs, as this article seems to suggest? How can one Corporation legally force their way into the food chain if they are so dangerous?

To the person who needs to research for his GMO article - Google GMO foods. Also see if you can get your hands on an excellent documentary called "The World According to Monsanto". It was put together by German and French TV - mainstream. That video is also recommended for the naive person who is wondering how one corporation can do what it does. An excellent fictional movie - "Michael Clayton", uses the PR and legal M.O.s of Monsanto type companies with their fictional villain corporation "U-North".
